First Amendment Defense Act The First Amendment Defense Act (S. 1598), introduced by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), would prevent the federal government from discriminating against any individual or group, whether nonprofit or for-profit, based on their beliefs that marriage is the union of a man and woman or that sexual relations are reserved for marriage. That protection would extend to tax policy, employment, licensing, accreditation, contracting and grants.
Transportation Empowerment Act The Transportation Empowerment Act (S. 1541), introduced by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), would turn back control of the federal highway program (including transit) to the states by incrementally decreasing the federal gas tax and the size of the federal program, and in turn empower the states to fund and manage their transportation programs and priorities—not those of Washington bureaucrats or influential lobbyists.
